TWCC TRAINING ON THE RULES, PROCEDURES, AND LAWS GOVERNING BUSINESS OPERATIONS WITHIN THE AFRICAN CONTINENTAL FREE TRADE AREA (AfCFTA)-MLOWO, SONGWE REGION.

TWCC training on the rules, procedures, and laws governing business operations within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)-Mlowo, Songwe Region, on January 25th -26th, 2024.

On 25th January 2024,Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC) organized a two-day training session on the rules, procedures, and laws governing business operations within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The event took place in Mlowo, Songwe Region, on January 25-26, 2024.

A total of 110 women entrepreneurs and youth participants from various districts of the Songwe Region attended the comprehensive training. The sessions were facilitated by experts from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS), Small Industries Development Organization (SIDO), Business Registrations and Licensing Agency (BRELA), Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (TCCIA), GS1, Women’s Microfinance Bank (WMA), and the Government Chemist Laboratory Agency. Additionally, financial institutions, including the Tanzania Trade Development Bank (TTDB), played a crucial role in providing insights into securing financial support for entrepreneurs.

Dr. Boniface Kasululu, Assistant Regional Administrative Secretary for Songwe Region, graced the opening ceremony as the guest of honor. In his address, he urged women and young entrepreneurs to embrace the training to enhance their skills in producing high-quality goods. He emphasized the importance of dedication to competing both domestically and internationally. Dr. Kasululu highlighted Songwe as a gateway to the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and encouraged entrepreneurs to ensure their products are marketable within SADC and Africa at large.

The training, which focused on AfCFTA regulations, aimed to equip women entrepreneurs with the necessary knowledge to thrive in the competitive market. It emphasized the significance of producing quality products and the need for entrepreneurs to actively participate in the AfCFTA to expand their businesses beyond national borders.

The two-day event provided a platform for networking and knowledge exchange among women entrepreneurs, fostering a supportive environment for their growth. As the training concludes on January 26, 2024, TWCC remains committed to empowering women in business and promoting their active participation in the AfCFTA to unlock new opportunities on the continent.
